Some of the eligible solutions include wall insulation, floor insulation, and ceiling insulation. However, the homeowner must follow the proper procedure in order to qualify for the program.
- Entergy New Orleans customers must have energy assessment of home performed by a Participating Energy Consultant.
- The PEC provides a list of recommended improvements, noting which are eligible for an Energy Smart Rebate.
- Entergy New Orleans customers must have improvements conducted by Participating Energy Consultants.
HELP – Home Energy Loan Program
Some Louisiana homeowners may be eligible for a loan option through the Louisiana HELP program. With this option, a homeowner can receive a five year loan to increase the energy efficiency of her home. Louisiana’s Department of Natural Resources subsidizes half of the financing (up to $6000) for the improvements at a low interest rate. Eligibility requirements are noted below.
- Homeowners must use a participating lending institution.
- Homeowners must be a resident of Louisiana and the property must be located in Louisiana.
- Homeowners must have an energy rating conducted on their home or choose from a list of pre-approved improvements.
